Washington, D.C., June 12, 2023 — Life Happens, a national nonprofit educating consumers about the importance of life insurance in a sound financial plan, has been recognized by the 29th Communicator Awards for its 2022 Life Insurance Awareness Month (LIAM) campaign. This campaign, designed to raise awareness around life insurance within the Hispanic community, won two Awards of Excellence in the categories “Integrated Campaign” and “Nonprofit Campaign.” The Communicator Awards is the leading global awards program honoring excellence in communications across industries.
Life Insurance Awareness Month, which Life Happens created and coordinates each September, is designed to spotlight the importance of life insurance. With the 2022 Insurance Barometer Study (by Life Happens and LIMRA) reporting that half of Hispanic adults say they need life insurance—or more of it, Life Happens recognized the importance of creating a LIAM campaign that reached the Hispanic community.
To effectively convey the message, the nonprofit tapped actress, proud Puerto Rican and mother Roselyn Sánchez to be the official spokesperson for the campaign. As someone genuinely passionate about assisting the Hispanic community with their life insurance needs, Roselyn was able to share her personal experiences with life insurance and promote the LIAM 2022 tagline—“Life insurance – an easy decision”—through social media posts and interviews with media.
Life Happens also ensured that their content, graphics and popular life insurance tools like the Life Insurance Needs Calculator were available in Spanish, which further helped empower and amplify life insurance awareness within the Hispanic community.
“The purpose of the LIAM campaign is to educate people about the importance of life insurance and motivate them to get the coverage they need, and we realized how important it was to be inclusive of the Hispanic community,” said Maggie Leyes, Chief Creative Officer of Life Happens. “And a special thanks goes to our partner companies who help us amplify this message during LIAM and beyond.”
